Terrell Owens, a Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver, was known for his self-belief and talent during his 15-year NFL career. His ability to assess talent honed over years of playing and has only sharpened. This was evident when he shared his thoughts on a promising young quarterback in the league.
On Tuesday, Owens attended Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud’s Youth Football Camp at St. Thomas High School. During the event, he spoke highly of Stroud, the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
“The sky is the limit for this guy,” Owens said exclusively to Big Sarge Media about Stroud. “In this league, obviously, the best route to success is to stay healthy. Surround this guy with talent, and the sky is the limit for this team.”
Like Owens, Texans’ general manager Nick Caserio sees potential in his signal caller. This offseason, he made strategic moves to support Stroud, trading for running back Joe Mixon (Cincinnati Bengals) and wide receiver Stefon Diggs (Buffalo Bills), resigning tight end Dalton Shultz, and extending wide receiver Nico Collins. These moves are aimed at strengthening the Bobby Slowik offense led by Stroud.

Owens isn’t the only Hall of Fame player who believes Stroud has the talent and leadership to lead the team into the next phase. Texans’ former wide receiver Andre Johnson, who will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August, has witnessed firsthand what the former Heisman Trophy finalist can do.
“When C.J. (Stroud) is on the field, it’s just different,” Johnson said to KPRC 2 Houston in January. “He’s a hell of a player, great person, great kid, and was raised the right way. He’s very knowledgeable about football, so I enjoy seeing him on that field.”
With over three hundred participants at the football camp, ranging from kindergarten to high school, Stroud ensured each group could play catch with him during their allotted time. Owens even joined him during that time, which is a testament to who Stroud is on and off the field.

“What he’s doing here is just an extension of who he is as a person,” said Owens about Stroud’s character. “You can definitely tell his upbringing is obviously a high standard, so again, this is awesome not only for himself but these kids. To give them an opportunity to come out number one just to see him in person and to learn some skills, come out here and have fun and educate themselves about football.”
As the interview ended, I asked Owens if he could still catch some routes from Stroud, and he smiled and said, “Definitely.”
